Jett Christmas Letter

December 2001

Dear family and friends,

We hope this letter finds all of you who have meant so much to our family through so many years, happy, healthy and enjoying the peace and joy of the holiday season.

A brief summary of our year begins with John coming home from his mission in Rome, Italy where he served for 2 years.  Our hearts couldn’t have been more full as they were when we saw him coming through the foreign flight gate!  He plays baritone in the BYU marching band and will accompany the football team to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN.  We look forward to going to watch the game, but mostly the band! J

Then we had an awesome family reunion in Helen, GA.  You saw the family picture taken there on front of our web site!  Unfortunately Rachel and Dave couldn’t come since Rachel had to teach her last week of school.

The weekend following our reunion Ben and Christy Vizuette got married.  We are so blessed that both of our married kids have married into families where our “in-laws” have become fast friends.  We enjoy both the Jensen & Vizuette families so much.  We are grateful that Ben and Christy live close by.  They will close on a house the end of this month about 14 miles North of us.

Dan will graduate from high school in June.  He bought himself a car and enjoys spending most of his time with his girlfriend when he doesn’t have to work.

Stephen is currently involved in the wrestling season.  He has to work hard to keep his varsity 119 pound spot.  He’s a sophomore.

The next big event will be the birth of Dave and Rachel’s baby probably on New Year’s Eve.  Rachel will be induced on Dec. 23rd.  Dave graduates from the U of U in the spring!

Sarah is a junior at BYU, but will go to France this January for 6 months to be an au pair and become fluent in French.  She’s getting more and more excited!

Jim and I are enjoying our kids more than ever as we see how precious our time with them is.   Jim is as secure at his company as can be these days for which we are very grateful.  He continues to play racquetball 3 times a week with a number of partners, and is STILL scout master in our church!  (he’s been in scouting for 14 years)

LeeAnn is teaching early morning seminary for her 6th year.  It helps her not think about her emptying nest, and the stimulation of studying the scriptures so intently is an incomparable blessing to her.

Our hearts are changed after the expression of hate and terrorism that occurred last September.  We were quickly drawn to our knees in behalf of those whose lives were forever changed by the great tragedy.  Our flag gets hung every morning in honor of those who are serving in our armed forces to defend our freedoms.  Our ears are in tune with the voice of the prophet who continually guides us in these difficult times.   We feel to bow our heads in gratitude and reverence for our loving Savior who offers his comfort and peace now and always.

We wish you all the best of the season and through the new year—Sincerely,

                                                                             The Jim Jett Family
