What a great month of letters!! I enjoyed each and
every one of them. I
feel very humbled and grateful to have such a wonderful family who all live
the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have 2 places to go before dinner, but am
determined to get my newsletter done before I take off.
We are enjoying beautiful weather. It seems really cold at night and in
the morning, but really warm during the day. I am kind of hoping
for a
cold winter--it makes me appreciate the hot summer more, and I like the
thought of mosquitoes etc. freezing in the winter!
Stephen is into wrestling again. He is about 117. He wanted
to get down
to 112 so he could wrestle a weight he knows he can do well in because of
the competition. He has finally come to the conclusion that it would be
better to just go with his weight and have fun whether he gets to wrestle
varsity or not. There is a freshman who weighs 119 (the weight class
limit) and he's really good. We're proud of his good attitude.
Stephen is
keeping up his grades and working. It's kind of nice that he enjoys
staying home for now when he has free time. He went to a friends on
Halloween to watch a scary movie and then we had pumpkin pie.
Dan had to work on Halloween. He was disappointed to miss a fun holiday,
but recognizes the value in a job. He works at Atlanta Bread Company, a
sandwich, soup, and salad restaurant. He bought our Honda and now has
joined the ranks of being an adult with insurance bills, car expenses,
etc. He enjoys knowing that there is an end to high school in
sight. He's
getting good grades and is a faithful seminary attender. He's got a huge
crush on a girl at Sprayberry High who is a junior. They spend almost all
their free time with each other.
Jim was re-elected to be the ham radio club secretary for another
year. They are a great service resource to the community. His troop
went
to the camporee last month and won first place out of 24 troops in a 4 hour
emergency preparedness relay. The troop was pretty surprised to learn of
their success! His shoulder has healed and he is back to playing
racquetball right handed again. He's enjoying being more competitive with
his partners.
The highlight of October was definitely going to Provo to visit and have
fun with our 4 oldest kids and 2 of their spouses. We had such a good
time. Highlights were the homecoming parade, the BYU football game,
seeing Testaments, touring the Conference Center and lounging at Rachel and
Dave's with everybody. We enjoyed eating out and hanging at Sarah's
apartment. The boys at home enjoyed a change of having a young couple
stay
with them. We hope that we convinced them to want to come with us next
time!!
Ben, Sarah, and John have lots going on too--maybe they will send a
letter!! (hint hint!)
I have an idea--think seriously about it ok! Since Dave and Rachel have
come up with this cool website--how about we all send pictures of our
families and a few words, and put them in the website. Then on our
Christmas cards we can include the website address so our friends can look
it up? Whenever I see or talk to people from Ca. they always ask
about
all my sisters and brothers and kids, and parents. I know I would love to
see what my friends siblings were doing. Wouldn't you love to see Craig
Young's kids? Maybe not--but think about it. We're going to do it
and the
more of you the better! Dave can scan pictures into his computer and it
works beautifully! What do you think?
Well, I better go. I love you all so much. Happy birthday to all
the
birthdays this and last month!!
